About Me

A little about me...

A proud 2 time Chicago State University graduate (B.S. Biology/Chemistry & M.Ed. Elem. Ed.) with my initial career starting as a cosmetic and forensic chemist my love for learning led me to my second career at Chicago Public School as a science and math  teacher of 14 years. Currently I serve as a middle school science teacher leader and mentor at Morton School of Excellence in Chicago's Humboldt Park. Morton School of Excellence is one of the 32 schools managed by AUSL (Academy for Urban School Leadership). As a reflective practitioner working within the AUSL network, I am constantly shifting my practice to make learning relevant within the community I serve.  My most recent shift is to approach my teaching practice looking through a new lens that is S.T.E.M. focused. This new effort is led by Michigan State University WIPRO Urban S.T.E.M. fellowship program.

Interests

A science geek who loves spending time with my family, going to museums, traveling, biking, hanging out at the lakefront/downtown, furniture and accessories up-cycling.  I am a wife and mother of 4. My passion is to mentor middle school girls and encourage them to pursue STEM careers.
